Job Description

Job Title: Recruiting & People Manager
Location: Bellingham, WA 
Reports To: GM Operations
Status: Exempt, Salary
Salary: $80,000+/year base salary DOE, plus full benefits

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing and managing a full range of human resource programs for a startup company including the hiring process, benefits package, compensation structure, etc. while actively promoting the employee culture to advance Tidal Vision’s mission. This role will focus heavily on driving the company’s unique work model in a variety of innovative ways, while remaining highly people-focused.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, selection processes, hiring, onboarding, retention, and succession planning. 
  • Maintains focus on hiring to ensure a diverse, inclusive workforce.
  • Maintains focus on hiring to ensure alignment with the company’s culture.
  • Creates new job descriptions and job advertisements, posts job openings on various platforms, sources and recruits candidates, and conducts multi-step interviews for a wide variety of positions including technical and non-technical roles. 
  • Manages external relationships and contracts with providers of HR-related services such as staffing agencies, headhunting firms, screening services, etc.  
  • Develops and manages a competitive and equitable compensation system by preparing and updating job descriptions, performing job audits, obtaining market salary information, managing the performance review process, and creating the compensation increase system.
  • Manages, administers, or revises the company’s benefit package including paid time off, leaves, medical, dental, and life insurances, EAP, 401(k), company stock options, tuition reimbursement, etc. 
  • Develops, revises, interprets, and administers employee related policies and procedures. 
  • Manages L&I Programs, communications with the Department of Labor, the light-duty/return to work program, and OSHA monitoring. 
  • Maintains and revises the Company Organizational Structure. 
  • Ensures compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations through research and consultation with legal counsel across seven states. 
  • Provides Human Resources guidance in expanding national and potentially international business operations.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Drives the organization of company-sponsored events, activities, and functions.
  • Conducts research and collects data on human resource programs and practices.
  • Performs special projects as assigned that may include extensive research, public contact, and report writing.
  • Helps develop or coordinate professional development programs, to include on-site and off-site training opportunities.
  • Attends staff meetings, training, or other company events as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the GM Operations, CEO, and CSO

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three or more years of leadership experience in HR, recruiting, or similar capacity, required. 
  • Hands-on experience managing compensation and benefits, L&I program and other HR-related programs.
  • Experience building and promoting culture within a growing company, required. 
  • Experience creating and implementing processes within an HR department, required. 
  • SHRM or HRCI credential, preferred.

LICENSING & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The incumbent is subject to a background check.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Most of the work is performed in an office setting but will require occasional travel outside the office. May require sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to move throughout the office to interact with employees. Position requires hand manipulative skills for word processing and writing.  Must be able to hear verbal conversations over the phone and in-person with background noise. Must be able to consistently identify objects and persons at a distance and read fine print on various forms.
